Site Summary
This ONFARM site is a dairy operation with the best management practice (BMP) of a comparison of using an organic amendment (compost) and multi-species cover crops. The field site is a gently sloping rolling landscape on a sandy loam till soil. The soil health goals are to improve soil productivity from reduced tillage and organic amendment additions.
2020: Winter barley under minimum tillage followed by a cover crop mix and/or an organic amendment
2021: Soybeans under no-till management with a cover crop and/or followed by compost
2022: Corn under minimum tillage with a late interseeded cover crop
