There are many different diseases that affect wheat in Ontario caused by various pathogens. Although they occur in all wheat producing areas of the province, the economic impact caused by these diseases varies from year to year depending on environmental conditions. When the environmental conditions favour the development of these pathogens, local losses can be significantly greater. Proper identification is critical to effective disease management and this is especially important in order to maximize profitable fungicide applications for disease control.
